BullzI Rebuttal #2 – Do men make better leaders than women?
In this the 2nd poll in BullzI Rebuttal we take up yet another ‘politically incorrect’ topic.
We have heard this often enough – from both men and women. We have heard it being refuted strongly and supported equally vehemently. Arguments have ranged from ‘Look at Indra Nooyi, Kiran Shaw, the ICICI women….” to “Exactly! Look at them and see what has happened…”
The question still remains:
In the corporate world…..

While there have been some great women leaders like Margaret Thatcher, Indira Gandhi and in today’s context Indira Nooyi, you find more men holding this bastion- maybe it is do with men’s ability to look at things dispassionately and with a unbiased view.
I feel that it depends upon the type of leadership. In the case of Servant and Mother leadership, women may actually make better leaders than men because of their innate nature. In his latest book, one management writer has said that “Leaders can be discovered if they are born”. Leadership traits in most cases are innate irrespecive of the gender but women may sometimes find it awakward to lead men becasue of the gender bias in our society but that would not reflect their natural ability to lead.
Most often men make better leaders than women as men have lesser fears of taking certain risks which are essential to carry out the task of a leader.
